WBW #5 Wacky Name Wine — Royal Bitch 2001 Reserve Merlot

Finally Wine Blogging Wednesday is back, this time hosted by the lovely and talented Pim of ChezPim. The theme? Wacky Name Wines. Before I get into my wine for the event, I’d just like to thank Pim for hosting and for picking a great theme, and also to all those WBWers out there for making the event a growing success. I think we’ll have a record turn out this time around! As for my wine…after searching high and low for an adequately named bottle of vino that I’d actually want to try, I stumbled upon the Royal Bitch line of…

Wine Blogging Wednesday #5 — Wacky Wines

Holiday season got you feeling a little…wacky? Pim from Chez Pim has just the thing…Wine Blogging Wednesday #5 — Wacky-Names Wine. WBW is my own little creation (with a tip of the had to Alberto)that has quickly grown into an International Phenomenon! Okay…maybe two dozen participants in last week’s fourth edition (hosted by Derrick at An Obsession With Food) doesn’t qualify as taking the world by storm…but we’re getting there! We’re building momentum…thanks to the hosting of some blogging heavy hitters like Derrick, Alder and Viv. And, it’s great to add another popular blogger, Pim, to the list of gracious…

WBW #4 Round-Up

Derrick has posted a round-up of this month’s edition of Wine Blogging Wednesday — New World Riesling. This month, we had two full cases of participants (that’s 24!) and over 30 wines reviewed total…from New York…to California…to New Zealand…to Australia…even to MARYLAND! Great theme (thanks Derrick) and thanks for hosting. Keep an eye out for the WBW #5 annoucement soon…it’s a little bit of a different spin on WBW…and comes from yet another SF blogger!

Wine Blogging Wednesday #4 — A Long Island Riesling Showdown

Here we are again…the first Wednesday of the month…and that can only mean one thing: it’s Wine Blogging Wednesday. Derrick at An Obsession With Food is this month’s host, having picked New World Riesling as the theme. I picked up a couple different wines this time around, staying local with Long Island wines. I grabbed a bottle of 2003 Peconic Bay Riesling and a 2001 Laurel Lakes Vineyard Riesling.

Do You Want to Host Wine Blogging Wednesday (WBW)?

For those of us that have been participating in Wine Blogging Wednesday, it’s become a fun-filled monthly even that we look forward to. It started with WBW #1 — New World (non-U.S.) Merlots…and was hosted by yours truly. Then, Alder of the great wine blog Vinography hosted as we sampled Spanish Reds. And, just two days ago, Viv and Seattle Bon Vivant hosted the third vintage of this event, choosing Aussie Shiraz as the theme. I won’t spoil the upcoming annoucement of Wine Blogging Wednesday #4…but it’s coming in the next few days, and it’s being hosted by one of…

WBW #3 Aussie Shiraz — Does the Little Penguin Taste Like Chicken?

As seems to be happening a lot lately, I was a bit behind on my blogging and blog-related activities this week. What makes this particularly sad is that I was almost left without a wine to drink for my own brainchild, Wine Blogging Wednesday. Viv at Seattle Bon Vivant his this month’s host…choosing Aussie Shiraz as the theme. Luckily…I had purchased a bottle of Little Penguin Shiraz a couple of weeks ago. It received 85 points and was featured as a “Best Buy” in August’s Wine Spectator. WS had it listed as $7 I think…but I got it for $4.99…

Wine Blogging Wednesday Reminder: Down Under Shiraz

Just a quick reminder…the November vintage of Wine Blogging Wednesday is coming up next week! The theme, selected by Viv at Seattle Bon Vivant, is Aussie Shiraz…so go out and get one! I picked up a value Shiraz that is supposed to be pretty good…and no, it’s not Yellow Tail (which I think is a great entry wine for non-red drinkers.) Join us down under for WBW…it’s sure to be a g’day mates!

WBW #3 — Coming at us from Down Under

By now you’ve probably heard about Wine Blogging Wednesday (WBW), the worldwide blogging event, in the style of IMBB, I vinted in September. Well Alder at Vinography built upon September’s success by hosting October’s virtual wine party…adding more participants and doing a great job with the round up. For November’s vintage, we have another west coast host. Viv at Seattle Bon Vivant is taking charge and hosting A Trip Down Under: Australian Shiraz. I, like Viv, love Aussie Shiraz…from $6 Yellow Tail to the much more complex, elegant offerings made throughout the country. I can’t wait to go shopping for…

WBW #2 — Spanish Reds (Hosted by Vinography)

Alright all you wine lovers out there…Wine Blogging Wednesday #2 is coming October 6th. Alder over at Vinography has graciously agreed to host the event, centered around Spanish Reds. Luckily I’ve already got a couple to choose from…Nena spent ten days in Spain in July…and brought me back all kinds of vino! Alder has a great site chock full of great wine reviews and information. So…head on over to Vinography to find out more about WBW2!
