great write up Lenn, glad I get to see part of it this year!

That crimping thing is so cool, i need to look more into that as it maybe a good technique down here in VA. Wonder if anybody is doing it???

In the old days they used to twist the cluster a full turn, accomplishing the crimping idea. In Italy, I think.

You can read more about girding of grape clusters in Robert Camuto's book Corkscrewed "Adventures in the New French Wine Country. Sweet ondenc wines are made using this method.
