Muscadet is a wine I don’t know a whole lot about, so I was glad to pick this one up for around 10 bucks. The hand-written note at the wine shop (usually a good sign…if hand-written) mentioned melons, minerals and crispness…so I paired it with penne with cauliflower, sweet petit peas and parmesan cream sauce.
I’ve recently discovered a local wine shop that has some older vitage Long Island wines…something I’ve not really seen anywhere else. So, when I saw the 1993 vintage of Wolffer Estate Vineyards sparkling wine, I figured I’d give it a shot. By reaching out to my contacts at Wolffer, I was able to get some techinical information on this wine as well. It is 88% Chardonnay and 12% Pinot Noir and the grapes were hand picked on September 4th (Pinot Noir) and September 25th (Chardonnay). They avoided malolactic fermentation and the wine was aged for 5 months prior to clarificationand…

Get out and buy your S.A. red vino…be it Cabernet, Shiraz or even Pinotage. I got mine last week…and it probably could have worked for WBW #5 as well… See you all Wednesday!
One of Nena’s good friends from work got engaged last week. So…congratulations go out to Lisa and Greg. But you might be asking why would I post about this event on LENNDEVOURS? They want us to cater their engagement party. That’s why. Lisa has been ‘stealing’ our recipes for quite a while now (to the point that Greg thought they were hers!) and when they decided to have a cocktail party to celebrate their engagement, Lisa asked Nena if we’d do the food. When asked if she was serious, she said she was. Cool eh? Apparently we’re going to meet…
