WinebarJust a quick reminder about the the first LENNDEVOURS Wine Bar event at Roanoke Vineyards this coming Sunday, October 19 from 2-5 p.m.

We’ll be tasting two not-yet-released wines: Roanoke Vineyards 2006 Gabby’s Cabernet Franc and Lieb Family Cellars 2007 Pinot Blanc, enjoying Roanoke Vineyards wines by the glass, nibbling on some light snacks and just enjoying a great afternoon filled with great wines and great people.

Best of all we’ll be donating all of the net proceeds from the event to Peconic Land Trust, an important local organization that strives to protect Long Island’s working farms, natural lands and heritage. In addition to ticket sales, a portion of every glass of wine sold during the event, and any money we raise with raffles will go to PLT. I’m still finalizing the raffle items, but you can be sure that there will be wines, tasting certificates and a gift basket from PLT.

And, because it’s supposed to be sunny and cool on Sunday, I think we’re going to try to have most (if not all) of the event out on the grass next to the vineyard itself. It’s one of my favorite spots to enjoy a glass of vino, so this is a good turn of event. RSVPs have also out-paced their new Tasting House, so this is a very good thing.

I’m also planning to bring a few bottles of Sonis Cellars 2006 Hand Crank Red, my 100% cabernet franc made with fruit from Raphael. I’ll pour it for anyone who is interested, gratis.

Tickets are $10 when purchased in advance (call 631.727.4161) or $15 at the door. I really hope to see a bunch of you there. If it’s a success, we’ll probably do it once a quarter with a different charity each time.
