Brooklyn Uncorked 2009: May 13 @ BAMcafe, Brooklyn

By Lenn Thompson, Editor and Publisher Over the last couple years, Brooklyn Uncorked has become the premier Long Island wine tasting event. There are very few opportunities to taste so many Long Island wines in one place. This year, the list of Long Island wineries pouring includes Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard, Bedell Cellars/Corey Creek Vineyards, Bouké, Bridge Vineyards, Brooklyn Oeneology, Castello di Borghese, Channing Daughters Winery, Clovis Point, Diliberto Winery, Grapes of Roth, Harbes Farm and Vineyards, Lieb Cellars, Long Island Merlot Alliance, Macari Vineyards, The Old Field, Osprey’s Dominion Vineyards, Palmer Vineyards, Raphael, Roanoke Vineyards, Sherwood House Vineyards, Shinn…

Some Thoughts on Brooklyn Uncorked

I’ve mentioned it a couple time already, but on May 16, Long Island wine invaded Brooklyn. “Brooklyn Uncorked,” organized by the Long Island Wine Council, Edible East End and Edible Brooklyn, offered Brooklynites (and Manhattanites really) the unrivaled—and long overdue—chance to taste Long Island wines without trudging out to the East End. Thirty-plus wineries and a few other vendors descended on the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s BAMcafe for a walk-around tasting event. I was lucky enough to attend the press and trade portion of the event. The crowd wasn’t huge, but it was steady and it seemed like people were…

Reminders: Wine Blogging Wednesday and Brooklyn Uncorked

Tomorrow is going to be a fun day, that’s for sure. For one, it’s Wine Blogging Wednesday #33, with mid-priced wines from the Midi as the theme. Don’t worry Marcus, I won’t let the rest of the day’s events interfere with WBW. Wouldn’t be very "founderly" of me now, would it? Tomorrow is also Brooklyn Uncorked, which just might be the premier Long Island wine event of the year. It looks like most of the wineries are participating and it’s going to be a lot of fun. I get to taste most of Long Island’s wines without going to events…

Don’t Forget: Brooklyn Uncorked is Next Week

Next Wednesday Long Island wine country invades Brooklyn with Brooklyn Uncorked at BAMcafe. For any New Yorkers who just can’t make it out to Long Island’s East End, this is going to be an awesome opportunity to taste Long Island wines and I’d encourage anyone who is interested to sign up and come on down. Tickets are only $30. The organizers have gotten a nice roster of wineries together, including: Vineyard 48 Shinn Estate Vineyard Raphael Paumanok Vineyards Palmer Vineyards Old Field Vineyards Martha Clara Vineyards Macari Vineyards Long Island Meadery Lieb Family Cellars Lenz Winery Clovis Point Wines Channing…

Save the Date: May 16 — Brooklyn Uncorked

Details are still to come, but if you’d like to sample a lot of Long Island wine in one place at one time, Brooklyn Uncorked is going to be a great place to do it. Windows On Long Island used to be the big New York City tasting for Long Island wines, but they haven’t held that event in a couple years. Sponsored by two publications that I’ll be writing for starting this spring — Edible Brooklyn and Edible East End — and the Long Island Wine Council, Brooklyn Uncorked is happening May 16th at the Brooklyn Academy of Music…
