Vineyard Visuals: Southold Farm + Cellar Begins to Plant its Vineyard — with “Weird Grapes”

The folks at Southold Farm + Cellar, they of the successful Kickstarter campaign, started planting their vineyard yesterday and co-owner Regan Meador sent me a few photos of the action. “We’re going to end up with about nine acres of teroldego, lagrein, syrah and goldmuskateller on different spacing. All planted in about three days,” he said in a quick email this morning. “This was the easy part. Next up is making it actually look like a vineyard and produce!” Regan also told me that they are planting some apples on the property.

Vineyard Visuals: Wolffer Estate Through the Growing Season (November 19)

Our resident shutterfly, Ellen Watson sent me this stunning picture this afternoon with a note saying: "Yesterday was a gorgeous day. It was bitter cold. I got to Wolffer and noticed that all of the leaves are off of the vines. The color of the vines is a red brown….the clouds and sky were spectacular….the ground was cold and damp as I lay on my belly. This is a shot taken in the Hamptons at Wolffer Estate’s vineyard on Sunday morning by our resident photographer, Ellen Watson. "I stopped on 27, away from the buildings, etc. of the winery.  I love this image between the two posts. I think I will document this spot throughout the season to see how it changes with time."
