As of yesterday, Galluccio Family Winery and its 82 acres are up for sale. The asking price is $8.97 million.

Vincent Galluccio, formerly a telecom executive, bought the former
Gristina Vineyards for $5.2 million in 2000, so he’s looking at a nice profit (depending on how much he’s put into the place). The winery in Cutchogue features with two renovated
tasting rooms and two barns, and has the capacity to produce 9,000 cases of
wine a year.

A story in Newsday today mentions breaking up the 82 acres and doing some residential stuff with it. I can only hope that doens’t happen…the North Fork of Long Island is getting crowded enough with condos and estates.

Maybe we can convince Michael Lynne, owner of Bedell Cellars and Corey Creek Vineyards (and CEO of New Line Cinema), will just buy it all.

Of course Galluccio put the winery up for sale a year or so ago and then had a change of heart. So who knows if this is for real this time. The press release I got says he’s selling because his daughter just got married and moved to Italy and because of some short-term health issues.

I don’t think I’ve ever reviewd a Galluccio wine here on LENNDEVOURS…which should tell you something (in general). They do have a couple nice high-end wines that I’ve had at their tasting room.
