Sorry to break into this wine blog with sports and general news. But in case you haven’t heard, Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick is a piece of garbage (we’ll keep it rated G for now).
According to one report:
"His pit bulls were often summarily executed after losing fights,
according to a federal indictment that portrays a disturbing picture of
animal cruelty. In April, just before authorities raided his property
in rural Virginia, the Falcons‘
star quarterback was there "rolling" some of his pit bulls — that is,
putting them through test fights to see if they were "game," federal
authorities said. Eight of the animals didn’t make the cut, and were
executed by Vick and two co-defendants by "hanging, drowning and
slamming at least one dog’s body to the ground," authorities allege."
As a dog owner and lover, this has me irate. Irate to the point that I had to write about it briefly here. That anyone would treat any animal this way makes me want to puke.
I hope that he doesn’t get the Ray Lewis treatment when this gets to court. It could happen, you know. We treat athletes like they are above the law in this country. Which is almost as disgusting as Vick’s alleged behavior.
I hope that the Falcons (and the NFL) punish him in any way they can as well. How could anyone cheer for a guy like this?
Mr. Vick…you are lower than garbage.
