On Saturday, April 20, Riverhead’s Tanger Outlets will host A Taste of the East End, featuring the edible Food Truck Derby. Edible East End invites you check out the food trucks from New York City and Long Island as well as local beverage producers, who will be there to tempt your palate with a variety of local libations.
Morris Grilled Cheese, the only Slow Food-certified food truck in New York, will have a wide array of the obvious — including gluten-free options — with all the fixings. Korilla BBQ will be serving up Korean BBQ with organic veggies (yes, they have vegetarian dishes) and premium quality meats and ingredients.
Ready for dessert? Coolhaus will offer ice cream and cookies. They also offer gluten-free and vegan fare. And if that’s not enough to satiate your sweet tooth, you can check out Van Leeuwan Ice Cream and sample their locally farmed and antibiotic-free-made artisanal ice cream. If you’re not an ice cream lover, they’ll have fresh pastries to offer, too.
You’ll be able to wash it all down with your beverage of choice. Hampton Coffee Company will be pouring hand-roasted java from beans sourced from Africa, Central America and Asia. Decaf as well as soy-milk will be available, as well as fresh fruit smoothies and — more dessert — muffins.
If you’re looking for some adults-only beverages, Empire State Cellars will be offering a selection of Peconic Bay Winery‘s estate-grown and produced wines, as well as beer from New York State’s own breweries. True Believer Cider will be on hand, which is also made entirely in New York State, from the apples to the production facilities — another treat for those who go gluten free.
The store will have plenty of these and more available to purchase, so you can take home some of New York State’s finest.
This is only a partial list of the delicious food trucks and beverage producers who will be on hand. You’ll have to come by to see what else this event will have in store for you.
This event will go from noon until 5 p.m. in the Tanger 1 parking lot. So eat local, drink local, and then check out the select store sales that are part of “Great Taste, Great Style Home and Garden Weekend.” Visit www.tangeroutlet.com for more sale details.
