WBW #25: Champagne Deutz Brut Classic ($32)

Champagne is something I openly admit I know very little about, so I was glad that Sam wanted to host a WBW around the stuff. Sadly, as you can tell by the fact that I’m posting my tasting a day late, I didn’t prepare very much and didn’t learn a whole lot either. But, I did enjoy the wine I ended up with. In the past, well before my palate started to develop, I’d tasted Dom Perignon and all those high-end (expensive at least) Champagnes and I wasn’t impressed compared to a $20 bottle of bubbly from California. I didn’t…

Wine Blogging Wednesday #25 Announced — Champagne. The Real Deal.

The Wine Blogging Wednesday train just keep chugging along, and in September Sam from Becks & Post is playing host. I’ve not met Sam yet (we missed one another when I was in San Francisco in June) but anyone who reads her always fun and entertaining blog knows, the girl loves her Champagne. That’s Champagne with a capital C, not sparkling wine. So, it comes as no surprise that she has chosen Champagne as the theme for September 13th edition of WBW. Taking part in WBW is easy. Go out and buy a wine that matches the theme. Drink it.…

Wine Blogging Wednesday #24 — Chateau de Montfort 2004 Vouvray

Tvinooday, Wine Blogging Wednesday turns two years old — and this founder couldn’t be prouder or happier. What started with a brief exploration of New World, non-U.S. merlot eventually moved onto unique themes like Wacky Name Wines, Obscure Red Varietals and Drinking Local — Real Local. It’s been an interesting ride, that’s for sure, and I hope one that has been fun — and educational — for those participating. This month, it seemed only right to have Alder of Vinography host the event, considering he is best-known of all wine bloggers. Instead of forcing us to drink something from his…

Don’t Forget — Wine Blogging Wednesday #24 is Tomorrow

Don’t forget — tomorrow marks the two-year anniversary of Wine Blogging Wednesday, everybody’s favorite wine blogging event. To help us celebrate, the King of all wine bloggers, Alder of Vinography is hosting the event. He’s asked us to sample a white wine from the Loire Valley. So, run out and pick up your Loire white and join us tomorrow for Wine Blogging Wednesday #24.

Wine Blogging Wednesday #24 Announced — Loire Whites

Can any of you out there believe that Wine Blogging Wednesday is coming up on its two-year anniversary? As August’s host, Alder, says in his annoucement, I really wasn’t sure if people would be interested in such an monthly wine-tasting event when I first uncorked the idea. But, the response has been great and there is a loyal core group of participants every month and new wine lovers are joining the flock all of the time. On August 2nd, the King of All Wine Bloggers wants us to drink and post about a white wine from the Loire Valley region…

WBW #23: Ravenswood 2002 Monte Rosso Zinfandel

Wine Blogging Wednesday #23 is here, hosted by Joel from Vivi’s Wine Journal. The theme is BBQ wines and many of you will be surprised that I’m not writing about a New York wine today, though I did drink a couple during the dinner party in quesiton. Everyone knows Ravenswood —  probably for their zinfandels. And, despite my affection for Long Island’s balanced, nuanced wines, I love good California zinfandel. So, when Nena and I were in Sonoma, we made our final winery stop at Ravenswood. When we walked in, my heart sank a little. Looking at the tasting sheet,…

Wine Blogging Wednesday #23 Announced — BBQ Wines

I’m a few days behind, but this week Joel from Vivi’s Wine Journal announced the upcoming, and 23rd, edition of Wine Blogging Wednesday. His theme is one that is near and dear to my heart Bar-B-Que wines. Joel has left the ‘rules’ pretty wide open…just pick a wine to drink with a grill/smoked/barbequed meal. I know that most people drink beer with such eats…but not in the LENNDEVOURS house. Well, we do drink beer, but there is always wine around too. So, join us on July 5 and find out what other wine and bbq lovers are eating with their…
