Reminder: Wine Blogging Wednesday #20 is Next Week

Just a friendly reminder that Wine Blogging Wednesday #20 is a week from today on April 12. Hosted by Wine for Newbies, this edition of everyone’s favorite wine blogging event will force us away from the usual white wines — you know, chardonnay, sauvignon blanc and riesling. I’ll be drinking some NY wines (stop the presses) probably gewurtztraminer but I haven’t quite decided just yet. Join in the fun.

Wine Blogging Wednesday #20 Announced

I’m happy to report that the annoucement for Wine Blogging Wednesday #20 has been posted over at April’s host, Bill of Wine for Newbies. As the weather warms, many wine drinkers turn to more and more white wines, seeking out more refreshing, palate-cleansing wines. That’s all well and good, but Bill wants us to think outside the barrel a bit. So, for this vintage of Wine Blogging Wednesday, you can drink any white wine that you want…it just can’t be chardonnay, sauvignon blanc or riesling. Happily, this means that I can make a return to the wines of New York.…

WBW #19 Roundup Posted

I’m a couple days behind (it’s been up for a couple days) but the Wine Blogging Wednesday #19 – When in Rhone roundup has been posted by our enthusiastic host, Jathan of Winexpression. This even just keeps getting better and better, with new bloggers joining the fun every month. I’m still sorting out April’s even with the host…but keep an eye out for the annoucement this week.

WBW #19: Curtis Winery 2000 Hertiage Cuvee

Wine Blogging Wednesday just keeps rolling along, doesn’t it? It just can’t be stopped — but then again, who would want to stop such a fun and educational event? This month’s vintage, brought to us by Winexpression’s Jathan, focuses on Rhone-style blends and took me far from my usual Long Island wines. You see, there is a little syrah grown here and some viognier, but none of the other varieties mentioned in Jate’s original post. So, I had to turn my eyes, and tongue, elsewhere…somewhere much warmer. It would have been easy, of course, to just go out and buy…

Wine Blogging Wednesday #19 Announced — When In Rhone…

Du you Rhone? Whether you do or not, join food and wine bloggers the world over with the latest vintage of Wine Blogging Wednesday, hosted by Jathan, founder of the newly re-designed Winexpression.com. For this, the 19th edition of WBW, Jathan has asked us to focus on the wines of the Rhone, specifically the intricate blends (unless you can find a rare varietal bottling). It looks like I’m going to have to leave my local New York wines for this one…but that’s half the fun. More than half really. His annoucement provides a lot of excellent information with links to…

WBW #18 Round-Up Published

TWell, by my count 34 of you took part in Wine Blogging Wednesday #18 Wine Shops That Feel the Love, hosted by Dr. Vino. This was a great theme idea and I’m glad we had such a great turn out. The good doctor has posted the round-up, so let’s all take a look, feel the love and thank him for hosting this time ’round. I’ve hit a slight snag for March’s edition of the event (the blogger scheduled to host has gone missing it seems) but I think I have a backup plan that will work just fine. Stay tuned…

Wine Blogging #18 — Moore Brothers Wine Company

Today is Wine Blogging Wednesday, the International wine-tasting sensation. This time around the good Doctor (Vino) has asked us to put down our glasses (at least temporarily) and highlight a wine shop that feels the love. I’ve written often about how much I dislike most of my local wine shops. I’m always annoyed at their limited selection, tendency to stock only big-name, mass-produced bottles and, in one case, the environment of the store (always feels hot to me when I walk in). There are a few semi-local shops that I enjoy, including Mora’s Fine Wine and Spirits, Grape Culture and…

Wine Blogging Wednesday #18 Announced

Today, the good doctor himself, Dr. Vino, has announced Wine Blogging Wednesday #18. And, he’s decided to take us in a slightly different direction. Instead of asking us to seek out a particular wine, which could have led us down the path of pink Champagne or some other Valentine’s Day cliche, he’s tasked us with writing about one of our favorite wine shops…a wine shop that feels the love. Of course, for those of us you that just need to drink for WBW, he’s also added a bonus round: review a bottle of value wine that a member of the…

And the Winner Is…

It is with great pleasure that I announce and introduce the winning logo in the Wine Blogging Wednesday logo contest, designed and submitted by Chris over at Drink Some Wine. Congratulations to Chris and thanks to all of you who voted. I’m going to work with Chris to fine tune the logo…so hopefully we’ll have the “final” version soon. Now, keep an eye out for an annoucement for February’s vintage of Wine Blogging Wednesday…
